Progress on my books is going well with the Tournament of Supervillainy almost done. I’m extra pleased to be able to share this sketch of its guest stars with you. The Tournament of Supervillainy is a “Crisis on Infinite Earths”-esque crossover of my worlds and here’s pictures of Jane Doe (I was a Teenage Weredeer) and Cassius Mass (Lucifer’s Star).
The Nerd Book Review has done a podcast interview with me. We got to discuss everything from LUCIFER’S STAR to I WAS A TEENAGE WEREDEER to the trials and perils of indie publishing. I hope everyone will check it out.
Hey folks, great news! The ebook version of I WAS A TEENAGE WEREDEER is now available on Kindle!
FROM THE BEST-SELLING AUTHOR OF THE SUPERVILLAINY SAGA
Jane Doe is a weredeer, the least-threatening shapechanger species in the world. Blessed with the ability to turn furry at will and psychically read objects, Jane has done her best to live a normal life working as a waitress at the Deerlightful Diner. She has big dreams of escaping life in the supernatural-filled town of Bright Falls, Michigan, and her eighteenth birthday promises the beginning of her teenage dreams coming true.
Unfortunately, her birthday is ruined by the sudden murder of her best friend’s sister in an apparent occult killing. Oh, and her brother is the primary suspect. Allying with an eccentric FBI agent, the local crime lord, and a snarky werecrow, Jane has her work cut out for her in turning her big day around.
Thankfully, she’s game.
Set in the same world as Straight Outta Fangton.

With I WAS A TEENAGE WEREDEER now in editing and its sequel AN AMERICAN WEREDEER IN MICHIGAN more than half-completed, I thought I’d share the color cover for the former.
This is Jane Doe (her parents were terrible) as done by Alex Raspad.
I finished I WAS A TEENAGE WEREDEER this week and I’m very glad to have yet another book coming for my wonderful fanclub. It’s 83K words long and will be followed by a sequel novel called AN AMERICAN WEREDEER IN MICHIGAN.
What are my next projects as I work on these? I will be finishing up LUCIFER’S NEBULA and 100 MILES AND VAMPIN’ which are the sequels to LUCIFER’S STAR and STRAIGHT OUTTA FANGTON. Both of those books are 2/3rds of the way done.
I thought now would be a great opportunity to share the cover art sketches of I WAS A TEENAGE WEREDEER. This is my upcoming urban fantasy novel taking place in the same world as STRAIGHT OUTTA FANGTON but which I’m actually a lot more impressed with. Jane Doe (oh, her poor cruel parents) is probably my favorite character along with Gary and Lucien.
The premise of IWATWD is the following:
From the best-selling author of The Supervillainy Saga:
The unfortunately named Jane Doe is one of a long line of weredeer living in the town of Bright Falls, Michigan where not everyone is a shapeshifter but quite a few of the townsfolk are. She also has another gift, though, which is the ability to read objects. When the beloved daughter of the town’s most powerful family is murdered, Jane’s brother becomes the prime suspect. Teaming up with her werewolf best friend, a magic-using FBI agent, a dragon, and a host of other quirky supernaturals–Jane sets to prove her brother’s innocence. Unfortunately, she gets more than she bargains for when she discovers her sleepy little town has a dark history involving things much darker than murder.
I Was a Teenage Weredeer is the first volume of the Bright Falls Mysteries and set in the same universe as the Straight Outta Fangton series.
In addition to I WAS A TEENAGE WEREDEER, we’ll also soon be having a release for LUCIFER’S NEBULA and 100 MILES AND VAMPIRE, the sequels to LUCIFER’S STAR and STRAIGHT OUTTA FANGTON respectively.
I think fans will love all three books.
I wanted to let my fans know I have a new work in process. I know I should be finishing up all of my existing IPs and not creating new ones but this one is harder than most to ignore. It’s about 45K into a 90K novel hard to ignore and that’s only been written in the past month.
Specifically, the novel is I WAS A TEENAGE WEREDEER by Michael Suttkus and I. I know what you’re thinking, surely that can’t be the title but this may surprise you to know I have a tendency to write irreverent funny novels.
In this case, IWATW is another urban fantasy novel. I was pretty bummed about the genre due to the events surrounding ESOTERRORISM and my “divorce” from Ragnarok Publications. Well, now that Esoterrorism is going to be republished and finished as a trilogy with Amber Cover, I feel like I can once more write in the genre. I already took a dip with STRAIGHT OUTTA FANGTON that this novel technically takes place in.
Jane Doe, yes her parents were cruel, is a young community college student/waitress/weredeer in Bright Falls, Michigan. It’s an ordinary rural community with the exception of being home to the majority of shapeshifters in the United States. Divided into clans, she belongs to the shamanistic Cervid who are the spiritual leaders of their people.
Jane is…not suited for such a position. That doesn’t stop her from getting involved when murder strikes their town and she is forced by her best friend to use what little psychic talents she has to help. This leads to uncovering her hometown’s terrible secrets and getting chased by far too many monsters that consider her a tasty snack.
Teaming up with her werewolf bestie Emma, a eccentric FBI agent wizard, and a dragon–she may just survive this situation long enough to solve who murdered the town sweetheart.
IWATW is inspired by my love of TWIN PEAKS, THE SOUTHERN VAMPIRE MYSTERIES, and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. I hope everyone who loves my other novels will agree to check this one out.
